Tuning Anti-Biofilm Activity of Manganese(II) Complexes: Linking Biological Effectiveness of Heteroaromatic Complexes of Alcohol, Aldehyde, Ketone, and Carboxylic Acid with Structural Effects and Redox Activity
Journal: International Journal of Molecular Sciences (2021)
Institution: Jan Kochanowski University of Kielce
Research Areas: Mode of action
Cell Lines: VH10 (Human foreskin fibroblasts)
Summary: Antibiotic resistance is a rising issue worldwide and becoming one of the most challenging problems in our time. Thus alternative antimicrobial therapies are urgently required. In this study, the authors have used new manganese (II) complex to target bacterial pathogen by inhibiting the biofilm formation and other antibacterial activity in the primary human fibroblast (VH10) model. HoloMonitor M4 was used to count cell numbers after various treatments to study cell viability.
