Summary: Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a major type of sensorineural hearing loss. However, to date, there are no approved drugs for treatment. In this study, F. Sun with colleagues have investigated the role exchange proteins activated (Epac) by cAMP in inner ear hair cell damage and apoptosis after noise exposure. Authors have shown that Epac1 inhibitor protects from NIHL and makes it a potential therapeutic target. HoloMonitor M4 was used to study HEI-OC1 cell proliferation.
