Prostate Cancer Research in Movember

Globally, prostate cancer is the second most commonly occurring cancer in men and the fourth most commonly occurring cancer overall (wcrf.org).

This video shows Etoposide treated DU 145 prostate cancer cells undergoing programmed cell death, apoptosis. The cells explode into fragments – apoptotic bodies – change shapes into a rounder form and then collapse and become thin dead cells. The surrounding viable cells clean up the by internalizing the apoptotic bodies.

The images were extracted from a 61-hour time-lapse microscopy video using HoloMonitor M4 and Hstudio from Phase Holographic Imaging.

Team PHI is supporting PHI’s Håkan Rosvall this Movember in his work to raise funds and awareness for men’s health and prostate cancer.
